Our last road ever?

Hip hip hooray! It is finally open! After a 40 year wait, the final link to Highway 610 is now completed. Just in a nick of time I might add. Why? According to the weather gurus, we are just inches away from real winter setting in. Yes, I am talking about polar vortex winter with enough bitter cold, snow and misery for all.

This road will make it a heck of a lot easier to get to Rodgers and points north from there. Has this been a needed addition to our metro highway system? That is a "heck yes!" Even Jesse Ventura was instrumental in getting the ball kicked off when he was both the Mayor of Brooklyn Park as well as the Governor of Minnesota. Even though Jesse may have done some wacky things while in power, he also did some very good things also.

Now the bad news. There always seems to be the other side of the coin. Our unelected, unrepentant, under educated group of thugs called the Metropolitan Council have deemed the Highway 610 extension to be the last metro highway to be built - ever. True story. In the mind of these statists, the only new transportation system which needs to be built are choo choo trains to take us into downtown Minneapolis (the place few like to go).

Does this make sense to anyone with over a third grade education? I did not think so. State demographers have projected the growth in the seven (or nine) county metro area is going to increase between 750,000 to 800,000 in the next 25 years. Can you spell traffic gridlock? Considering it took 40 years to get 610 from concept to ribbon cutting, even if the Met Council changed their collective minds on Monday and authorized a new highway, we would still be in for years of gridlock.

I hate to have everything revert back to politics, but I will anyhow. Elections have consequences. The Met Council is appointed by the Governor. The group of thugs we have in there now are all political hacks appointed by our current socialist Governor. The Senate authorizes their charter, but it is the Governor who appoints them. We now have a new Senate starting in 2017 - but we still have the same old Governor for two years. WE NEED A REPUBLICAN SENATE AND REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR TO KILL THE MET COUNCIL FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!

Until that happens, bring a thermos of coffee when you on your drive to work. Projections are he commutes are only going to get longer and uglier. But why should we care? We are only the voters and the tax payers.
