"The ACA, which is now on life support, will be mercifully put out of its misery by President Donald Trump starting on January 21, 2017."
Before some of you think this article was penned by Ebeneezer Scrooge, let me make one thing clear. My heart goes out to each and every person in this state (or probably this country) who is being screwed by the un-Affordable Care Act. And because it is the Christmas season, I am feeling very magnanimous. What does that mean? It means I even feel sorry for the poor souls who supported ObamaCare years ago and are now getting hung out to dry by it.
Okay - back to reality. It is starting to appear a special session will happen before month's end. In that special session, we (collectively) are going to pour good money after bad. The ACA, which is now on life support, will be mercifully put out of its misery by President Donald J. Trump starting on January 21, 2017. However, many experts believe to totally unravel this monster from our health care system, that might take as long as three years.
What does that mean? The extraordinarily high premium rates we are now seeing might stick around for a few more years until this thing is totally dead. So Governor Dayton wants to take about 1/3 of a billion dollars our of our state surplus and give it to families who were hit the hardest by these high rates. This is a total misuse of those dollars. Should these families continue to suffer without help? Not a bit. Our Governor needs to nullify ObamaCare in the state of Minnesota. And he needs to do it before the end of the year.
Prior to ObamaCare, Minnesota had a good heath care system. Maybe not the best in the world, but light years better than what we have right now. What a special session SHOULD do this month is not only affirm the Governor's decision to nullify, but also to re-establish our former health care system starting in January.
What? Dump ObamaCare? What about the legal ramifications coming from the federal government? Sorry - there is a new sheriff in town. There will be no legal ramifications.
Here is a news flash for our not too swift Governor. Without ObamaCare, there is no MNSure. Gone, done, over. We need to look at reality, at our future. We need to STOP SPENDING MONEY ON THIS POS!!! We have better things to spend our valuable taxpayer money on.
The smart people have chalked up this ObamaCare experiment to "lessons learned. And what are the lesson learned? Don't follow the Pied Piper over the cliff like a bunch of lemmings. Or putting it another way - if it something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
