The DFL Disconnect...

"I am sensing a disturbance in the DFL force. In the middle of the night (so to speak), the Republicans in Minnesota as well as the GOP in most states in the union, stole a good part of the Democratic message."

Never thought I would see this day. For years I have marveled how this state, the state I was born and raised in, could have possibly become so goofy. How we can have congressional districts like the 1st and 7th, rooted in deeply republican land, constantly vote in Democrats. And to to make matters worse, the Twin Cities is looking more and more like Marin County in California (and that is not a compliment).

But hold the phone. Stop the presses! I have a tune in my head:

♫ There is something happening here,  what it is ain't exactly clear
 (thank you, Buffalo Springfield).

I am sensing a disturbance in the DFL force. In the middle of the night (so to speak), the Republicans in Minnesota, as well as the GOP in most states in the union, stole a good part of the Democratic message. What message is that? That the little guy, the Joe Six Pack, matters.

The DFL phone cord between St. Paul and out state Minnesota appears to have been cut. The gobblety gook message which for some reason seems to work in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties ain't doing so well in rural Minnesota these days. Too many working families have been slammed by the failure of ObamaCare and its evil offspring, MNSure. Too many working families are paying sky high taxes due to St. Paul's social engineering. Too many rural farmers are working harder and receiving less because of the Governor's misguided environmental meddling.

Yesterday, another left wing Democrat threw her hat in the ring for Governor. I read her platform in this morning's paper. She is an out state lawyer who does not think there is a problem with DFL messaging between metro and non-metro. Good. Keep thinking that way. Plus her platform is more the same social engineering nonsense.

From Tom Perez (that be the nut ball who is heading up the "newly revamped" DNC) down to the clowns on the Minneapolis City Council, they are all thinking the wrong way on a one way street. The Republicans on the other hand, are going the right direction, executing the agenda which got them elected.

This is going to be fun to watch. For a change, watching politics in Minnesota should not be "cringe worthy". Nope - it might even be fun. And unless the Minnesota GOP really "steps in it", I can see the Governor's seat coming back to the good guys in 2018. What will happen then? If after 2018, the GOP has both sides of the legislature as well as the Governor's seat? To start with, good-bye and good riddance to the Metropolitan Council. Maybe forever. That by itself will be HUGE!

I can see it now. After 2018, we could easily have Republicans  in CD 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8. Plus a Republican Governor. The Democrats may have cut their cord to out state Minnesota, but statewide the Republicans are reading each other loud and clear. And that is an "over and out" from the Bird this morning.

  1. Would be very good for MN to have a complete turnover for a decade or two!
