Trying to make it until November 2020

"It is Monday morning, and what is on the menu for this week? More acrimony. Blow back about ICE. Crabbing about 'dissing the Squad'. The upcoming Mueller testimony. Blah, blah, blah."

A while back, I was thinking I really hope our country can make it until November 2020 before the wheels fall off. After this weekend, I am hoping we can make it until at least Labor Day. If you don't think it is that bad, maybe you are reading or watching different news sources than I am. It seems every time I say things could not get worse, they do get worse. Now besides being open warfare with the President against the Democrats, it is trench warfare between the President and the "Squad".

First off, let's face facts. If the four members of the "Squad" love this country, they are doing an excellent job of hiding it. First and foremost, our "own" Omar. She went to Washington with a chip on her shoulder. Remember? "When I get to Washington, I am going to confront Trump". Total disrespect from the get go. And AOC? Can she go one day without running her trap? Even her Speaker is growing weary of her antics. Of course Tlaib, the potty mouth from Palestine, is great at pouring gas on any fire.

Finally this weekend, the President had just had it. I think it was a cumulative thing with him being accused of "ripping babies out of their parents arms while deporting them", to losing a cabinet secretary due to Epstein, to getting constant sass from the "Squad". And even though Donald Trump is not a sexist, not a racist nor homophobic, he does have a bit of the old "America, love it or leave it" mantra mixed in with his soul. In his mind, immigrants and refugees who come here (legally) from dirt poor and dysfunctional countries, should be just a little bit grateful to be here. Instead of trying to tear down this great country.

So he basically told the "Squad", it they don't like it here, go back and fix their former broken countries. That is it. Then the tidal wave hit. "RACIST!!! How could you say such at thing???" In reality, once again, Donald Trump said what many millions of us our here in fly over land are thinking. I don't care what "color" a person is. People on my side of the street are much more color blind than those on the other side.

If you don't like it here - leave. If you come here legally, and deeply love this country and want to be a part of the fabric, we are happy to have you. If you come from a culture which is very different, refuse to assimilate, and spew hate towards this country, you are invited to leave. Now.

Donald Trump talked to the "Squad" just like a parent sometimes would need to talk to an unruly teenager. "If you don't like living here, leave. I will help you pack your bags." I am sure many of us heard that message at some time in our growing up. Donald Trump has said many, many times he is pro immigrant. Immigrants who come here legally, love this country, want to be a part of the fabric, and have the skills to contribute. Trump is just saying the same thing which has been said by many past Presidents for eons.

Like I say, I am just hopping this country can make it to November of 2020 without spinning totally out of control. And what happens after November of 2020? I am afraid to think about it.
