The "Drunken Sailors Club"

"One more for the road mister or misses taxpayer - just one more!"

John McCain once said "I would say that Congress spends like drunken sailors, but that is an insult to the drunken sailors I knew. They quit drinking when their money ran out."

I am not going to pick on just one side of the aisle, as both sides have shown a propensity to spend other people's money (taxpayers) with wild abandon. However, in this state, the Democrats seem to be ratcheting up the game.

I would love to just hammer the Democrats in this article, but quite often then have help from the other side. The "unsession" bonding bill is a good example. After seeing the grab bag of goodies that are contained in this bill, anyone who votes for it should have their head (and citizenship) examined. The vast majority of the items contained therein should be paid for by private funding. You know, kind of like the Vikings Stadium should have been. Yet, there are some Republicans who cannot differentiate between infrastructure for the common good and private industry. Thus, they end up joining the "drunken sailors club".

And how about that new Senate Building? I will give the Republicans props as they have not joined the sheep on this one. This project makes no sense, so sense what so ever. Yet, the "drunken sailors club" are in lock step agreement on this one. Not only should this project never see the light of day, someone in St. Paul should make a motion the Governor's Mansion be sold. That place is a relic from the past! We don't need this huge house anymore. I can't imagine someone being elected Governor in this state who is homeless. The last homeless person to hold a high office in this country was Bill Clinton.

It is almost amusing the Tea Party has come under so much fire as of late. The wacky Left still call them "tea baggers" (very crude), and the establishment Republicans just want them to go away. However, the "drunken sailors club" is a main reason the Tea Party came into existence. People value fiscal discipline, people who pay the bills, get tired of this spending orgy in both St. Paul and Washington.

So I will say this to all who care to listen. We are watching. We will name names. If you violate the public trust, we will come after you hammer and tong in the next election. We don't care if you are blue or red, if you refuse to spend the public's money wisely, we will do our best to make sure you will be history. The nation is breaking under unsustainable debt. Our state is in the top 10 for taxes. Enough is enough. Sober up - the party is over.
