CleaRly we go again...

"Now we let the government keep spending more than it is taking in. In layman's terms - debt. And lots of it."

Once again, we muddle through life. At the end of every fiscal year, we seem not to be able to get our work done. Thus, this year we have limped through using YET ANOTHER Continuing Resolution (CR). Now we let the government keep spending more than it is taking in. In layman's terms - debt. And lots of it.

Now I will be honest when I say that part of me was hoping a shut down would not happen this year. Why? Because we are visiting many national parks right now. And if the parks shut down, it would be bad. But the government did not shut down. And tomorrow will be another day visiting national parks.

Let's look forward for just a bit to December 9th, when the CR runs out. And then what? The lame duck Congress does what?  Probably just extend the CR again until March. Trust me - I have seen this movie before. Most of us have. Meanwhile, the printing press is in high gear and we are spending more than we take in - for another half year.

By March, work will have already started on the preliminaries for GFY 2018. But we still have this unresolved mess called the GFY 2017 CR. Oh the heck with it  many will say on the Hill, we will just make an Omnibus Bill, fill it up with all kinds of goodies, and be done with it! Of course the American people are never done with it. They have to pay the freight for this annual dereliction of duty by Congress.

Happy new year everyone! The new government fiscal year has arrived! If life seems just like yesterday, it is. For even though it is the new year, we have one financial foot still stuck in the tar from last year. Whoppie do....
