Never let a good hurricane go to waste...

"Bottom line - very little of this money got to the poor people. They were sitting ducks when Matthew came calling. The result? Hundreds of innocent Haitians died yesterday."

Okay - I will say it. I know some are also thinking this. You can almost hear it in the tone of some of the MSM as well as our President. Hurricane Matthew is off script. It did not do what it was suppose to do. A direct hit would have been nice. Seeing pictures of many wrecked houses, down trees and so on would have been better for the narrative. Man made global warming is killing us.

Now I am going to go off script for a short while. This storm did do a direct hit on the impoverished county of Haiti. After 2010, when that 7.0 earthquake devastated the country, the world responded with over $10B worth of aid. That should have been enough to rebuild the country with housing for the folks which are earthquake and storm resistant. The Clinton's managed some of that money. Bottom line - very little of this money got to the poor people. They were sitting ducks when Matthew came calling. The result? Hundreds of innocent Haitians died yesterday.

It was just announced on the news that five people have died in Florida from the storm. I know one died from cardiac arrest as no first responders could get to her in time. The others?  I have no clue. I do know this. The storm was traveling about 10 mph. We have known it was coming for almost a week.

Was this hurricane the result of man-made global warming? I don't know - was the 1900 Great Galveston Hurricane (which was a Cat 4) the result of man-made global warming? Was the 1969 Hurricane Camille (which was a Cat 5) the result of man-made global warming? Was the 1992 Hurricane Andrew (which was a Cat 5) the result of man-made global warming? For the honest, the answer is NO.

I know Al Gore is pissed our hurricane drought has not played into the scenario his "fairy tale" book predicted. To bad, Al. The bottom line is this - this is weather. And (this very important), if we had used all the money collected to rebuild Haiti, I suspect the death toll would have been very small. I everyone who should have evacuated Florida, did evacuate, I also suspect the number of deaths would have been very close to zero.

But - in the words of Rahm Emmanuel, (if I may paraphrase), never let a good hurricane go to waste. Obama will find some way to make this storm fit his narrative. Some way.

My belief is that hurricanes have been hitting our coasts for millenniums. Long before Jesus walked the Earth. I would bet many were Cat 4 or Cat 5 storms. But we will never know. No records back then.

I grieve for the people of Haiti. They deserve so much better. Between corrupt charities and foundations (as well as a deceitful government), the poorest of the poor received very little. If Obama wants to make a statement about this storm, Haiti would be a good place to start.
