THAAD and the Norks

"It is your move China. Get your pet leashed. Take away their nukes. Get them under control. The option not to do it is bleak and getting bleaker. Remember - we have a new President who is anything but predictable."  

I guess it had to come to this. Now China has its undies in a bundle, and the Norks have been put on final notice. THAAD has come to South Korea. THAAD, which stands for Terminal High Altitude Area Defense is quite the system. The company I worked for in the 90's worked with the THAAD system in getting it integrated into a naval vertical launcher. It was quite the system back then, and I expect it is much improved today.

What North Korea does not understand (and trust me, I have no clue why they do not), is the United States is not going to sit on its hands while the Norks go to town with launching numerous intermediate missiles at our allies. The world does not work that way. I have said this before, as have many in various Administrations, one launch by the Norks at us or an allie, and it will be lights out for North Korea. Literally and figuratively. 

Yesterday I addressed the unbelievable progress we have made in the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence. The civilized world is also making huge progress in space, biomedical research, nanotechnology and robotics. That is the good news. We could have a bright future.

The bad news is we have bad actors like the Norks, the Iranians and Islamic Terrorists who want to burn the house down. Why is that? I have no clue. People always bitch about how much we spend on defense when we have so many other needs. Trust me - I wish the world was more civilized so we did not have to do so. 

The fact that China is pissed off that we sent THAAD to South Korea is laughable to me. If China had kept their pet on a leash, we would not have had to deploy over there. But now it is a fait accompli. Or in other vernacular, tough toenails. We should also put China on notice that if the Norks launch at Japan or South Korea and THAAD or Patriot cannot successfully intercept - we will incinerate North Korea in nuclear hell. I don't think China wants that on their doorstep.

As said before, the rumor is when Obama and Trump were doing the hand off (when they were still speaking), Obama told him the one thing which kept him up at night was the Norks. Why? They are bat crap crazy. Yes, I do believe they are crazy enough to attempt a launch with a live nuke. And they have to know if they do that, it will be the end of days for them.
