Taking nothing for granted...

"The Presidential race may be all hosed up, but the 'down tickets' are not."

Last night was as "appreciation get together". We had it at the Congressman's office. It was good and bad at the same time. It was good to see everyone once again. And of course, with Congressman's busy schedule, any time we can get together with him is always a blessing. It was bad only from this perspective - winning the primary was a waste of time and money. The Congressman had already won the endorsement at the CD 6 convention - and that should have been the end of it.

In any event, it is now "game on". Regardless of the fact that CD 6 has a reputation for being very "red" territory, it is not as "red" as it once was. And there is NOTHING the Democrats would like better than to pull off a huge and unexpected upset in the 6th. It is up to us, the supporters of Tom Emmer, to make sure than does not happen. No, not one soul on Team Emmer is taking the November election for granted.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the "down ticket". While many at the top are doing some hand wringing about the potential damage Donald Trump can do to the "down ticket" races, we don't have the time to worry about it. We have to ignore any potential "coattails" (or otherwise) and run our own races. My job, as well as the others on Team Emmer, is to support his re-election efforts. Whatever it takes, we will do what needs to be done.

The same goes for our Senate District Senator. As well known and popular as she is, the Democrats would love to see her gone. Why? She is way too effective. Having her replaced with a Democrat would be a huge plus up for them. Again, it is my job, along with the rest of her supporters, to help ensure that does not happen. No, not our Senator, nor us, are taking this race for granted.

Finally, I did not forget our candidate for the Minnesota House. Cal Bahr coming off a huge victory in the primary, is ready for the next rung on the ladder. To get him past November with a win is of the highest priority.

And our Anoka County Board. The Democrats have specifically targeted four of them - the four most conservative four. We MUST maintain our Board the way it is. Many of us will fight like crazy to deny the Democrats this prize.

There was have it. We are down to a bit over 2 1/2 months before the November election. Our motto for each race should be "we take nothing for granted". Now it is game time. Time to lace up the boots. Time to take it to them. The Presidential race may be all hosed up, but the "down tickets" are not.

  1. The Presidential race is hosed up only because GOP are cowards who won't defend anybody against the media onslaught, regardless of how extreme and biased and generally untrue. If we don't kick back, the down ticket will get attacked as well. They are already painting Jason Lewis as "the Second District's Donald Trump."
