"As Thor continued to try to explain how he still could not stand Trump as a man, the thought of the SCOTUS going ultra Left for a generation or two was more than he could stand."
Brad Thor was on the radio yesterday. Talking about the presidential race. Mostly, how icky it is. Glenn Beck was grilling Thor on something Thor recently said. Although still adamant about not supporting Trump, Thor said because of the Supreme Court justices Hillary could put on the court, it might be time to re-think his "Never Trump" oath.
Well Mr. Beck and company did not like that answer, not one tiny bit. I thought Beck was going to unfriend Thor right there on the radio show. As Thor continued to try to explain how he still could not stand Trump as a man, the thought of the SCOTUS going ultra Left for a generation or two was more than he could stand. Thor then reminded Beck there has only been one Supreme Court justice who has been impeached in the entire history of the court. In other words, once a justice is in, that is it.
Thor's dilemma is the same many of us have today. Many of us were not Trump fans from the start. I was a Cruz guy. A good friend was a Rubio guy. Another good friend was a Rand Paul guy. I even have friends who backed Carly or Kasich. But none of these highly qualified folks are still running. Our endorsed candidate is Donald Trump. I have said many times before, and Thor said it yesterday, plus many of the experts also say it - if it is not Trump, if WILL be Hillary. That is, barring an October surprise where the Russians dump thousands of hacked emails on our press and Justice Department.
Some see the choice between Trump and Clinton as being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. I look at it differently. I see this race as one between a known and an unknown. We ALL know about Hillary Clinton. We have seen she and her husband in action, live and in color, for decades now. And it ain't pretty. If she becomes President, and the Republicans maintain at least the House, NOTHING will get done. The acrimony on Capitol Hill would be worse than the Obama years.
Trump on the other hand, might surprise many. He might be a better than average President. Or he could be such a disaster, he might wreck the country. We simply do not know. And what kind of justices would he nominate? Hopefully ones off the list he has put forward. If we changes his mind and picks some wild card justices, we will have gained nothing in having him in the White House over Clinton.
How big is the divide between these two flawed candidates? Could be as wide as the Grand Canyon. Just yesterday Hillary said we need to make our corporations pay their "fair share" of taxes. Huh? We have the highest corporate tax in the world - and she wants to make them higher? Trump on the other hand, wants to cut them by more than half.
It is now 81 days and counting. I can't even script how I think the next two and half months are going to turn out. All I can say is hang on and pay attention. This one will definitely be one for the history books.
