Behind the closed door

"I am starting to see our political future looking something like that old game show where there are some closed doors. And the contestant must choose whatever prize is lurking behind the door he or she chooses."

I confess. I did it. I watched the Democratic debate last night. Why? To keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I did it mostly to get the drift on how far out on the ledge these two socialists are on prior to Tuesday. And they are far out. At the same time, there was another melee going on with Trump vs. Anti-Trump supporters. That is when my mind started to think about next year.

I am starting to see our political future looking something like that old game show where there are some closed doors. And the contestant must choose whatever prize is lurking behind the door he or she chooses. So, no offense to Governor Kasich, but I don't see him behind any door. The other doors might look at follows:

President Sanders - And the crowd goes wild. The ancient one is sworn in on a cold day in late January. He immediately blames the cold weather on climate change. He will fix it. He will tell us that Obama did not go nearly enough. He wants cars outlawed in two years. Trains or bikes for everyone. And no more meat - only grains may be consumed (with no salt or sugar). He will initiate wage and price controls. Everyone will start making the same wage. And no more banks. People can go back to using their bed mattress as a safety deposit box. Life in America will look like a dystopian novel before his term is half over.

President Clinton - After she is sworn in, the happiest person on the planet will be her husband. It will be his third term. Cigars for everyone! (Sorry - poor taste for a joke.) Even though her husband might think it is his third term, it will look more like Obama's third term. Only with a shriller voice and nauseating laugh included. Nothing she tries to initiate will get through Congress. It will make today's gridlock look like child's play. The country will be so dysfunctional, the Republicans will score a record number of pick ups in the next mid-term. Meanwhile, the country tilts on the edge of bankruptcy and anarchy.

President Trump - He will make things great alright. Great riots, great unrest, and great problems with the economy. Even though he will have stacked his cabinet with the best and the brightest, he will not listen to them. Mexico will break off diplomatic relations with us and the Chinese will demand to call in their loans. Rioting will be so bad, the country will look like a remake of Mad Max. After two years of chaos, Trump will determine this was a bad deal and resign. Vice President Jeb Bush (who Trump had made peace with) will take over. The country will then look like the third term of the G.W. Bush presidency.

President Cruz - For the first time in just about forever, the country will be governed by the Constitution. Just like when the civil war ended, there will be a period of reconstruction. Only this reconstruction will be to fix the damage the Obama Administration has done to this great country. Even though Donald Trump's campaign slogan was to make America great again, under President Cruz it will really happen. After two terms of President Cruz, the country will be back on the right track to once again be that shining city on the hill.

Those are the four doors as I see them. Only one door offers us any hope. The other doors offer us nothing but a continual slide towards chaos and/or mediocracy. I may be wrong, but that is the way I see this next year. And by the way - next year is only 8 1/2 months away.

  1. About as clear and concise as you could be. I pray that the voters going forward see the wisdom of your vision!
