Words mean things

"However - anything that Donald Trump has said in the past has PALED compared to what Hillary Clinton said this past weekend. It was beyond jaw dropping."

Someone once told me the difference between Republicans and Democrats is the following: Republicans look at Democrats as the loyal opposition, and Democrats look at Republicans as the enemy. However at the end of the day, when the elections are over, when the signs come down, we are all Americans.

I have been dismayed during this election season with some of the things Donald Trump has said. Some have been painful to hear. More than one notch below where the Donald should have been speaking. However - anything that Donald Trump has said in the past has PALED compared to what Hillary Clinton said this past weekend. It was really beyond jaw dropping.

To call a large portion of the American electorate "a basket of deplorables" almost took my breath away. But then to go on to say the rest of it was like a punch in the gut. (I will paraphrase), "You know who I am talking about. The racists, the sexists, the misogynists, the xenophobes, the homophones, the Islamophobics, and so on."

Good grief! Even her husband had more tack than that! Bill had the ability to be a "good old boy" and act like your friend, even though you and he might be miles apart on policy. But as good as Bill Clinton was, he was nothing compared to the Gipper. Ronald Reagan was a master in relationships. He could get along with the "loyal opposition" without compromising himself.

Reagan knew what he was doing. Thus, he attracted many Blue Dog Democrats (which were called Reagan Democrats at that time). He was able to talk to the entire American population as he NEVER alienated any portion of it. Besides being principled, Ronald Reagan was kind and friendly. He would have NEVER, EVER said anything close to what Hillary said. Or for that matter, what Trump has said on the trail.

There is one irony with what Trump has said in the past. Some of the things which have made many of us cringe. If we could take those words back and just focus on his message, things might be a lot different. His message is solid. What we have now is NOT WORKING! Especially in the minority community. I am willing to take a chance on Trump. I know what we will be getting with Hillary.

Supper hour approaches. This deplorable man needs to start the grill. I don't know why I am doing it. Since I have been told I am a sexist, I should just order my wife to do it. But then again, I am not deplorable, nor a sexist. That only exists in the minds of the Loony Left.

  1. Question: do we "cringe" at Trump's comments (in context) or do we cringe at what the media CLAIMS he said (often out of context)?
