D Day, Zero Hour....

"For the past eight years, Barack Obama has taken a nation which was fractured and made it ten times worse. We are barely holding on right now."

This is it folks. The past seventeen months has all come down to this. The paper this morning said the world is watching. Some in the world would love to see Hillary as our next President. Others are leery of her and would like to see a President Trump. Still others see this as a no-win election. Both candidates are flawed and would present problems.

Since many on social media are offering up predictions, I will not. However, I will offer some different scenarios with different outcomes:

Scenario One - Trump and Hillary are neck and neck in the popular vote. Hillary does get the edge in the electoral college and is declared he winner. However, election judges across the country are reporting in "voter irregularities". Trump's lawyers go to court to stop Hillary from being declared the winner until the "irregularities" are investigated. We end up in a 2000 type election.

Scenario Two - Hillary wins by a decisive margin (5 to 10 points). The Senate tips by one vote over to the Democrats. The Republicans retain control of the House. For the next two years, massive fights will break out in the Senate over Clinton's picks for SCOTUS. The Republicans in the Senate, although now in the minority, use every legal procedural maneuver to deny Clinton another leftist jurist.

The Republican led House will pick up where the FBI dropped the ball. Hillary Clinton's insiders will spend most of their time on the Hill in front of House investigations. Even though the 650,000 emails were gone through in 8 or 9 days by the FBI, the House will take two + years to go over them. Nothing else will get done the first two years of her term. The country will have buyer's remorse with the outcome of the election.

Scenario Three - Trump wins by a comfortable margin. The Senate goes to the Democrats and the House stays with the Republicans. Trump is able to work with Speaker Ryan in getting key legislation drafted. However, everything passed out of the House will die in the Senate. The country again, will be in total gridlock.

Scenario Four - Trump wins by a comfortable margin. The Republicans lose seats in both the House and Senate, but manage to maintain slim majorities. Trump is able to work with both the House and Senate in getting legislation drafted and passed. The biggest tax cuts since Ronald Reagan will happen. GDP will start moving higher than 2%. However, the debt will continue to grow as neither side will have the political will power to cut spending enough to curtail it. The crisis in our entitlement programs will continue to grow.

None of the four scenarios will lead to sunshine and lolly pops for our great nation. I will however make this prediction. And this is not original thought, as I have heard this over the past few months by many smarter than I. We put too much emphasis on the job of President. That is not what our Founding Fathers had in mind. Focus on the down tickets. Get the right people in the House of Representatives. That is what really matters. Next most important - get the right people to be your Senators. The job of President is way down the food chain.

This time tomorrow it will all be over. We will (or should) know who will sit in the White House. How the Senate will look. How the House will look.

In conclusion I will say this. For the past eight years, Barack Obama has taken a nation which was fractured and made it ten times worse. We are barely holding on right now. As far as I am concerned, this is his legacy. A broken country. Who ever wins, will inherit that as a prize. Good luck to all of us.
