If we only have had John...

"Is there an honest person alive who thinks the press would have been this quiet during a McCain Presidency? Not a chance."

Before we start, I need to give my usual disclaimer. John McCain is a hero of mine. Should be a hero for all of us after what he went through as a POW. That being said, there are times he has been a disappointment to me as a Senator. He was a bigger disappointment to me when he was a Presidential candidate.

Now I am going to pretend for a minute that John McCain had been a MUCH better Presidential candidate. So much so, he beat the snot out of Obama in 2008 and was re-elected in 2012. And now we would be coming to the end of eight years of his Presidency. I am also going to pretend that the total economy (with the exception of ObamaCare) would look pretty much the same as it does now. Why do I say that? Hold on tight.

As most of us know, these past 7+ years of the Obama Presidency have been like a paid vacation for the press. With bad economic news galore, we often get, "Move along - nothing to see here..." from the main stream media. Is there an honest person alive who thinks the press would have been this mute during a McCain Presidency? Not a chance.

What triggered this thought for me today as I was doing some catching up on periodicals, is a story I saw more that once. "One out of six children go hungry in this country". Or "With school out, kids have no place to go for free or reduced breakfast and lunch." Has the press said "boo" about this story? If they have, I have not heard nor read it. I could just see headline after headline if McCain was President - "McCain and Republican policies are starving our kids!"

Or the economy for crying out loud. To have every quarter of every year of a McCain Presidency stuck in a economy with 2% or less GDP? With almost 100 million people out of the workforce? Almost 20 trillion dollars in national debt? Plus, a record number of people on food stamps? Every night on the news the story would be the same. "McCain the worst President since Hoover!"

Cheer up. If this country is dumb enough to elect Hillary, we will be in for four to eight years of "more of the same". The lap dog media will continue to live up to their name. However, if we should get a President Trump, he like a President McCain, would get blistered every night on the news. Same economy, two different ways the news is reported.

Welcome to the land where at one time we had an honest press. Welcome to Obama's America. A land where a true Fourth Estate exists no longer.
