Sorry Mr. Pence

"The only problem with the pick as far as I am concerned was the timing. And that was nobody's fault, really."

First off, just for the record, I like Mike Pence. He was a good choice for Donald Trump. Spending some time in Washington, spending some time in a governor's house, and being a rock solid conservative sure helps. It did not take the Clinton campaign long to blast Trumps choice of Pence as being "extreme". Is it just me, or is extreme and extremist the favorite words of the Loony Left.

The only problem with the pick as far as I am concerned was the timing. And that was nobody's fault, really. The Trump campaign was just the victim of some bad circumstances and a very sharp press corps. For example:

  • Circumstance One - The terrorist attack in France. That ate up the press coverage for 24 hours straight.
  • Circumstance Two - The attempted coup in Turkey. That ate up the press coverage for the next 24 hours straight.
  • Dogged Press Corp - Way too many markers were left for even an average sleuth in the press corps to figure out it was going to be Pence.

Wow! Could not have planned that one any better to really screw up the shebang! I felt kind of bad. The kind of guy that Mike Pence is, and the bump that pick could have given Trump, it just kind of happened in the dark of the night. No splash what-so-ever.

Back to the credentials of Mike Pence. Ever since Donald Trump was in his first primary, the question has been raised about his political views. Specifically, is Trump a conservative or just a chameleon? And that question is still being asked. However, with a proven conservative like Mike Pence on the ticket, that should put some fears to rest. And to have Washington, as well as gubernatorial experience, is a HUGE plus. The fact he has Hollywood good looks (and also looks Presidential), does not hurt either.

So bring it on. Lets go from presumptive to actual nominee for both Trump and Clinton. Then let's start the debate on where this country should head. More of the same malaise, or do we really need someone to go to Washington and "kick over the table"? As for me, I will take a Trump/Pence ticket any day of the week (and twice on Sunday) over a Clinton and anyone else ticket.
