Trey, disappointing and disappearing...

"Facts are neither Republican nor Democrat..."

Trey Gowdy

Well, he sure sounded good. Yet another former prosecutor, who is now in Congress. And since we own the House and Senate, we can appoint whomever we want to chair committees. And putting Trey in charge of investigating the IRS scandal, Benghazi, or whatever else seemed like the right thing to do.

Trey Gowdy is from the 4th District in South Carolina. He was elected to Congress by promising to bring hard core conservative principles with him. As a prosecutor, he had a reputation for being somewhat of a "Judge Roy Bean". In other words, if Trey was the prosecuting attorney and you were a law breaker, your future would look pretty grim. Trey did not lose many cases.

So he seemed like the perfect guy to put in charge of the Benghazi hearings. The IRS scandal. Any scandal which has rocked the nation's capitol for the past seven years. But here is what I really don't understand. It is bad enough that Lois Lerner is still walking around as a free woman. But since Gowdy is the Chairman of the Select Committee on Benghazi, the silence has been deafening. And as sharp as he is, he and the committee have not yet found the smoking gun. It is like watching the OJ trial all over again. Everyone knew OJ was guilty, but the smoking gun did not smoke enough to convict.

Here is the bottom line. I felt this way before, but after seeing "13 Hours" I feel even stronger. Was Hillary to blame? Maybe - but somebody was. And nobody hung for this. We lost an Ambassador for crying out loud! Raped, tortured and murdered! And we lost Americans, dying while begging for help.

And this did not happen on Mars. It happened right on the other side of the Med. A hop, skip and jump from many of our forces. I believe the Administration really wants this entire episode to go the way of the Fast and Furious scandal. Throw up enough chaff and everything will be forgotten. That might work with some, but Trey Gowdy? No way!

Here is what I would have liked to see happen with Representative Gowdy. First, Lois Lerner would be doing the perp walk by now. And have her fabulous government retirement garnisheed. Then her former boss at the IRS impeached. And with Benghazi, I don't give a rat's butt how long it takes, or how much it costs, somebody has to be held accountable for this mess. If Gowdy has to pull every soldier, sailor and civil servant that was within 400 miles of Benghazi that night, and then question them under oath, then so be it.

One final word. Is Trey going to be on the committee which looks into why Hillary has not yet been charged in the e-mail case? Or is that going to come under the "too hard, too messy" category also. Justice delayed is justice denied. And I am part of the American public who wants justice on this issue as well as so many other misdeeds.

And Trey? Where art thou? You seem to have disappeared as well as disappointed.
